Usually, when it comes to review assignments from The Sex Shed, you have to earn your stripes before they trust you with the pricier toys. Honestly, I can't blame them. Between fake reviewers and scammers looking to score free products they can flip for a quick payday, a little caution goes a long way.
As luck would have it, I managed to win not one, but two of the monthly missions over on The Sex Sheds Discord server, One was for being the most active community member, and the other was for inviting the most new members. Rather than cash those prizes in on a couple of smaller toys and flood you all with three smaller budget reviews, we decided to pool everything together with my regular monthly assignment and finally get our paws on something a little more exciting.
So, with that bit of good fortune out of the way, it's time to see if the We-Vibe Nova 2 lives up to the hype, or if it's all buzz and no bite.

Unboxing
The retail packaging for the We-Vibe Nova 2 comes in an orange-to-pink gradient, accented with thin white wavy lines that give the box a playful look. The front prominently features an image of the Nova 2, along with the We-Vibe logo and the rather confident tagline “non stop pleasure” tucked into the bottom-left corner. No pressure, right?
The right side of the box lists the included contents in eleven languages, while the left side provides a QR code for downloading the We-Vibe app and a brief description of the toy. Around back, you'll find the key features, along with a handy diagram showing the toy and its various functions.
Opening the box reveals instructions for downloading the app and connecting the device on the underside of the lid, while the Nova 2 itself sits neatly in a cardstock cutout inlay. Beneath that, We-Vibe includes the magnetic USB charging cable, a We-Vibe-branded cotton linen storage bag, and the usual assortment of useful paperwork, including the quick-start guide and legal documents.
Once everything is unpacked, there isn't a mountain of unnecessary packaging to wrestle with either, so getting from “ooh, what's in the box?” to having everything ready for testing is pleasantly straightforward.

Measurements and Material
The packaging states that the Nova 2 is made from body-safe silicone, while both The Sex Shed and We-Vibe list it more specifically as “body-safe silicone, produced without phthalates, BPA and latex.” So, material-wise, there aren't any mystery ingredients hiding in this particular recipe.
The Nova 2 measures approximately eight and a half inches in total length, with around four and a half inches of usable insertable length measured straight from the base to the tip, or about six inches when following the curve. The main shaft has a gentle curve that finishes in a slightly rounded head. About one-third of the way down, a second arm branches off, giving the Nova 2 its characteristic rabbit ears. This second arm measures roughly three inches from base to tip, or four and a half inches along the curve.
The head measures approximately four and a half inches in circumference at its thickest point, tapering down to around three inches near the base. The rabbit ears have a rounded triangular shape, measuring about three and a quarter inches in circumference at their thickest point and narrowing to roughly two and a half inches at the base. Just below the ears is the three-inch handle, which houses the magnetic charging port on the back. On the front are five buttons: a sync button, plus and minus buttons, and left and right arrows.

Features
The Sex Shed offers the Nova 2 in two colorizations, blue and pink. Mine is the pink version.
It took me a little fiddling to figure out the controls because I rarely read the manual before testing, like a good little gremlin. It turns out what looks like a rotation button is actually the sync button for the app. Holding it for eleven seconds starts the syncing process, the device buzzes twice, and the indicator light starts flashing. Once connected, a single press and three vibrations confirm the connection. Holding the button for another eleven seconds ends sync mode.
There is one slightly important catch here. Until the device is synced with the app or sync mode is deactivated, the localized controls will not work. So if you're standing there wondering why your fancy vibrating rabbit has suddenly decided to ignore you, that's probably why.
The sync button also allows you to choose which motor is active. One press activates the ears, two presses activates the main unit, and three presses activates both. The plus and minus buttons control the vibration intensity, while the left and right arrows let you cycle through the preset patterns. I like that the arrows work in both directions. A lot of toys make you cycle through their presets in one direction, so if you pass your favourite, congratulations, you're going around the mountain again.
The app gives you considerably more control. The main Toys section lets you control the Nova 2 directly, while Long Distance Play allows you to hand control over to a partner. The latter also includes chat and video calling, so your partner can control the toy while you stay connected and provide live feedback or spicy reactions.
Single Vibe gives you a slider for adjusting intensity and twelve vibration patterns to choose from, along with the option to create your own. Multi Vibe is where things get more interesting with the Nova 2, as it allows the two motors to be controlled separately. This means you can adjust what the main shaft and rabbit ears are doing instead of having both motors behave exactly the same.
There is also Touch Mode, where you control the toy with your fingertip. The faster you move your finger, the stronger the vibration gets, and when you stop, the toy stops. Create Your Own Vibes lets you build your own custom vibration patterns, while Playlist Mode allows you to combine preset and custom vibes and set the order, intensity, and duration for each one.
The app also supports multiple compatible toys, allowing them to be controlled independently or together. Long Distance Play and multiple toy support aren't features I personally had a chance to put to the test, but they are worth mentioning for anyone looking at the Nova 2 specifically for partnered or remote play.
The Nova 2 is also IPX7 waterproof, so cleanup is nice and simple. Soap, water, air dry, storage. Finally, the noise level is surprisingly low. Even with both motors running at full speed, I doubt anyone would be able to hear it behind a closed door. That's pretty impressive considering the amount of power these two little motors are capable of putting out.

How to Use the We-Vibe Nova 2
Before getting started, make sure the Nova 2 is charged and apply a generous amount of water-based lubricant. Because of the deep curve and the thickness of the head, I recommend taking your time with preparation rather than trying to rush things. The head is tapered, but most of the bulk is concentrated toward the front, so getting properly warmed up makes a noticeable difference.
If you're using the We-Vibe app, open it and scan the barcode on the toy's packaging. The app will recognize the Nova 2 and begin the connection process. Turn the toy on by holding the button until it vibrates twice, then tap the button once and wait for the three vibrations confirming that it has connected.
Once the Nova 2 is in position, take a little time to adjust the angle before settling on a setting. Because the internal arm is rigid, you can't change the curve of the toy itself. Instead, small changes in your positioning are what determine where that curve and the external ears end up.
The Nova 2 can be used with the app or on its own. If you're using the app, you can experiment with the different modes and motor settings, while the onboard controls are there when you want to keep things simple.
When you're finished, the IPX7 waterproofing makes cleanup straightforward. Wash the toy with warm water and mild soap or a suitable toy cleaner, rinse it thoroughly, and allow it to air dry completely before storing it in the included bag.
My Experience

To start, I'd like to point out that I am AMAB and this toy was designed primarily for AFAB bodies. In my research, I've seen no male reviewer touch this toy, although I have seen a few reviews discussing its compatibility with anal use. That's where my review places its focus.
The first thing I'd like to point out is the app control. While the features are fairly standard with most app-controlled devices, I found that the relay time was too long. From the time I moved my finger to the toy translating that movement into a vibration, there was enough delay to make Touch Mode frustrating. I can't say whether the lag is standard for the device or if the Nova 2 simply needs an update, but for someone on the spectrum, that delay made the app considerably less appealing. I like my controls to activate in real time, not twenty seconds after the fact.
With that in mind, and the fact that I've been testing this toy in a manner that was secondary in the design planning, my experience is primarily based on the onboard controls and anal use.
As with all rabbit vibes being used anally, the ears make for a good massager on the perineum. Positioning the toy this way allows the deep curve to point upward toward the stomach rather than having the ears trail along the cleft, giving me the best angle for this particular toy.
Stretching is important because while the tip is tapered, the bulk of the thickness is also concentrated here. This creates a shaft that reminds me more of the tentacle of a Displacer Beast, with a tapered, wide, spade-like head and narrow stem. For those of you who are also into Beholders, Dragons, Slimes, and Mimics.
The tip does have a very small amount of give, enough to squish the silicone slightly against the internal core, but only just. The internal shaft itself is rigid and cannot bend, so that deep curve is all you're getting. The blunt head also means it has no trouble making its way past the barrier once you're properly prepared.
Once the body is warmed up and ready to go, the thick head requires a little pregame preparation. The deep curve takes some getting used to, but once I had the positioning figured out, the vibrations were strong and consistent.
The rabbit ears were a little more troublesome during entry. I had to bend them back out of the way because they snagged on my jewels and created just enough resistance to prevent the toy from sliding in smoothly. Once positioned, however, that same curve and length make the ears surprisingly effective as an external stimulator for the jewels.
