How much water should I use when douching?

Less is more, especially if you are new to anal douching. A single bulb fill of warm (not hot) water is usually enough to clean the lower rectum effectively. Avoid using large volumes repeatedly in one session, as over-douching can disrupt the natural balance of your gut and irritate the rectal lining. Plain, lukewarm water is all you need. There is no benefit to adding soap, vinegar, or other additives, and they can cause irritation.

How long before anal play should I douche?

Allow at least 30 to 60 minutes between douching and play. This gives your body time to expel any residual water and lets the rectal tissue settle. Some people prefer to allow a little longer. Rushing the process or playing immediately afterwards can lead to discomfort or unexpected leakage.

Is anal douching safe to do regularly?

Occasional douching before planned anal play is generally considered safe for most healthy adults. However, making it a daily habit is not recommended. Frequent douching can strip away the natural mucus lining of the rectum, reduce helpful gut bacteria, and cause dryness or micro-irritation over time. If you find you feel the need to douche very frequently, it is worth speaking with a healthcare professional.

How do I clean and store my anal douche properly?

After every use, disassemble the nozzle from the bulb and rinse both thoroughly under warm running water. Then wash with a toy-safe, fragrance-free cleaner and rinse again. Allow all parts to air dry completely before storing. Silicone nozzles can also be boiled or run through a dishwasher (top rack, no detergent) for a deeper clean. Store your douche in a clean, breathable pouch or container away from direct sunlight. Never share a douche between partners without fully sterilising it first.
