I have never tried anal play before. Where should I start?

Begin with the smallest, most tapered plug in our range, often called a beginner anal trainer. Look for a slim tip that gradually widens and a well-defined neck so your body can relax around it naturally. Take your time, use plenty of water-based lubricant, and never rush. The muscles around the anus do not self-lubricate, so reapply lube as often as you need to.

Is silicone, steel, or glass better for a butt plug?

All three are excellent choices when they are genuinely body-safe grades, but they offer different experiences:

• Body-safe silicone is soft, flexible, and forgiving, making it ideal for beginners and longer wear sessions. Use only water-based lubricant with silicone toys.
• Stainless steel is firm, weighty, and completely non-porous. It responds beautifully to temperature play and is simple to sterilise. Compatible with any lubricant.
• Borosilicate glass is smooth, hard, and also non-porous. Like steel it holds heat or cold well and is compatible with all lubricants.

Avoid plugs made from PVC, rubber, or anything labelled "jelly" as these materials can harbour bacteria and may contain irritating chemicals.

How do I clean and store my butt plug safely?

Cleaning method depends on the material. Non-porous plugs with no electronics (silicone, steel, glass) can be boiled for a few minutes, run through the top rack of a dishwasher without detergent, or wiped down with a 10 percent bleach solution and rinsed thoroughly. Plugs with vibrating motors or batteries should be cleaned with warm water, mild soap, and a soft cloth around the seams, keeping the charging port dry. Always clean your plug before and after every use. Store it in a fabric pouch or its original box, away from other toys, to prevent material degradation.

What lubricant should I use with an anal plug?

The anus does not produce its own lubrication, so a generous amount of lube is essential rather than optional. A thick, long-lasting water-based lubricant is the safest all-round choice and is compatible with every plug material including silicone. Silicone-based lubricants last longer and are a good option with metal and glass plugs, but they can degrade the surface of silicone toys over time, so avoid that combination. Oil-based lubricants are not recommended for internal anal use with most toy materials and can weaken latex barriers.
