I have never used kegel balls before. Where should I start?

A good starting point is a single ball in a larger size with a relatively light weight. Larger diameter and lower weight make it easier for your pelvic floor muscles to hold the ball in place while they are still building strength. Wear it for short sessions of around 15 to 20 minutes at first, gradually increasing duration as you feel more comfortable. Always listen to your body and stop if you feel any discomfort or fatigue.

How do I know the materials are safe for internal use?

Look for products made from body-safe, non-porous materials such as:

  • Medical-grade silicone - soft, flexible, and free from harmful plasticisers
  • ABS plastic - firm, smooth, and widely recognised as body-safe
  • Stainless steel or solid aluminium - very durable and completely non-porous

Avoid products described as jelly, rubber, or PVC, or any listing that does not clearly state the material. Non-porous materials cannot harbour bacteria between uses, which is important for intimate health.

Which lubricant should I use with kegel balls?

Water-based lubricant is the safest all-round choice and works with every material. If your kegel balls are made from ABS plastic, stainless steel, or aluminium, a silicone-based lubricant is also compatible. However, avoid silicone-based lubricants with silicone toys, as they can degrade the surface over time. A small amount of lubricant applied at the point of insertion makes the experience more comfortable, especially when you are new to pelvic floor training.

How do I clean and care for my kegel exercisers?

Clean your kegel balls before and after every use. For non-motorised silicone, stainless steel, or ABS plastic designs, warm water and a dedicated toy cleaner or mild unscented soap is sufficient. Rinse thoroughly and allow to air dry completely before storing. Fully waterproof designs can be submerged for easier rinsing. Store your exercisers in a breathable pouch or the original case, away from direct sunlight and extreme heat, to keep the material in good condition.

Will my order be shipped discreetly?

Yes. All orders from The Sex Shed are dispatched in plain, unmarked packaging with no indication of the contents on the outside. The billing name on your statement is also discreet, so your purchase remains private from arrival through to payment records.
