I have plenty of fun goodies tucked in the sex toy chest beneath my bed, including vibrators, anal beads, and my trusty lubricant.

A squirt or two can make all the difference when you’re playing solo or engaging in foreplay, and it’s my go-to for enhancing vaginal and anal sex.

A universal sex staple for all, lube combats vaginal dryness, reduces friction, enhances comfort, and boosts sexual pleasure.

Whilst my body does produce a certain amount of natural lubricant, I prefer to add extra slide and glide with a tube of lube.

Keen to find out more about this super substance? I’ll tell you how to use lube, with a few sexy ideas to try.

Choosing the right lube

There are different types of lubes, and I would advise choosing the most suitable based on what naughty things you’re going to be doing.

Choose a quality lube that’s durable and body safe. My go-to substance is water-based lube.

Water-based lubricant is versatile and perfect to use with condoms and sex toys. It’s also relatively easy to clean up afterwards.

Alternatively, you can use silicone lube, which is ideal for water play and extended sessions.

Never combine silicone lube with silicone toys, and keep in mind that silicone lubricant can stain certain fabrics.

There’s also oil-based lube, another long-lasting substance that’s suitable for extended sessions. Best used for external play, oil-based lube should never be used with latex condoms.

If back door fun is in the cards, I would recommend choosing a product that’s been designed for anal play. Anal lube tends to have a thicker consistency, which provides a more comfortable experience.

Other options include playful flavored lube – good for those who enjoy a hint of sweet strawberry or mouthwatering mint with their sexual play (especially oral).

If you’re a fan of sensation play, you could also try warming or tingling lubes.

Enhance foreplay with lube

I love the feeling of glossy lube being smeared across my skin. My guy’s hands glide over my flesh, and as he runs his fingers up my thighs, I get a tingle between my legs (especially if a finger or two slips into my pussy)!

Hand jobs are better with lube, too.

The lube helps my hands slide up and down his shaft, and I often warm the lube in my hands before using it for an extra sensation boost.

Improve oral sex

Flavored lubes can make oral sex tastier and more fun. I’m a fan of fruity lubes such as strawberry, but there are all sorts available.

Apply a small amount to the clit, penis, or nipples to make oral sex and play smoother and yummier.

Spice up penetrative sex

My vagina enjoys a level of natural lubrication, but for me, it’s a case of the wetter the better.

We often both apply lube to our genitals as we find it makes penetration easier and smoother. Lubrication also helps to reduce friction, and we can fuck for much longer, too.

Lube for anal play

Whilst my pussy can get naturally wet, my anus sadly cannot. Therefore, lube is more than just a bonus for anal play and sex; I’d say it’s a necessity.

If we’re going to engage in any bum fun, my lover and I opt for a thick lube (usually a product that’s specifically formulated for back door action).

Lube and temperature play

Temperature play can be great fun, and you don’t need ice or a heat spray to have a go! Simply warm or cool your lube slightly before applying to add another sensory layer to play.

You can invest in a lube warmer, but I just place my tube of lube in a bowl of warm water and wait a couple of minutes. If you want a more chilling experience, just pop the lube in the fridge and let it cool.

Lube for sex toys

Lube is perfect for use with sex toys, especially textured toys, as it enhances sensations and heightens the sexual experience.

I always check that the lube is compatible with the toy. For example, always avoid using silicone lube with silicone toys.

Lube for mutual masturbation

My lover and I often use lube during foreplay and to facilitate mutual masturbation. There’s something very intimate about taking the time to apply lube to one another.

The lube serves to make the experience more slippery and pleasurable. We gently caress one another’s genitals, and sometimes I put on a naughty solo sex show for my guy.

Sexy massage with lube

I love a good and thorough full-body massage, and it’s even better when my lover squeezes a blob or two of lube into his palms before he gets going.

Every touch feels smooth and sensual. I like it when he takes his time, focusing on different areas of my body before concentrating on my erogenous zones and then finally honing in on my more intimate areas.

For massages like this, an oil-based lube works best, giving every stroke that smooth, lingering glide.

Lube for roleplay

Role-play is great for ramping up bedroom fun. With props and costumes, you can elevate sex and try out different scenarios.

We like to play out a nurse and patient scene where my lover lies back for a thorough examination.

As his naughty nurse, I use lube to enhance the medical (although he still won’t bend over for me)! You could also act out a masseuse and client scenario, where things get a little suggestive.
